Vacancy: Community Energy Research Assistant
Commitment: Part-time (0.6 FTE)
Salary: £22k FTE (or equivalent hourly rate)
Term: Jan - May 2020
Location: Liverpool (flexible arrangement acceptable)

Scene is looking for a skilled researcher with an interest in the community and locally-led approaches to renewable energy. The role will be based in our Liverpool office working with a small research team, primarily focused on conducting community energy research between January – May 2020. The role will include stakeholder engagement, surveying and outreach, data management and analysis and contributing to a number of high-profile research reports.
Responsibilities
Conducting and supporting outreach and surveying for the community energy research throughout the UK;
Designing, managing and analysing in-depth community energy databases;
Supporting the production of graphical reporting and data analysis outputs;
Contributing to national and regional community energy research.
Qualities
Research skills, including a good understanding of research methods and analysis;
Capable data manager / analyst;
Understanding of statistics analysis and associated software tools;
Good communication and outreach skills;
Positive attitude and an interest in community energy.
Experience
Working in renewable energy or community energy sectors;
Working with large excel and relational databases;
Graphic design, including Adobe suite or similar;
Good working knowledge of Office suite.

About Scene Connect:
Scene Connect ("Scene") is a leading renewable energy consultancy in the community and local energy sectors. Over the next 5 months, the candidate will be focused on delivering the national Community Energy – State of the Sector research project, alongside a number of similar regional research efforts. The State of the Sector provides an overview of the community energy sector in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is the most comprehensive evaluation of the sector conducted, providing an evidence base to advocate for the benefits of community energy and help to understand and deliver new ways of supporting local approaches to energy ownership.
